You don’t need to fly to Rome to see some heavenly mosaics.
The Church of the Sacred Heart and Saint Catherine of Alexandria, on Worcester Road, has some of the finest in England.
The walls of the church are covered in eight and a half tons of quarter-inch glass imported from Venice, portraying major themes and stories from the Bible and individual holy figures.
The work began in 1922, a year after the church held its first Mass, and took 12 years to complete.
