Avid viewers of Britain’s Got Talent may remember an 11-year-old English-Filipino singer who wowed the judges singing Frank Sinatra’s Summer Wind.

Charlie Green, born in Droitwich in 1997, received a standing ovation from the audience and was dubbed a ”little star” by Simon Cowell, while Amanda Holden predicted he could win the 2008 series. Piers Morgan, meanwhile, loved his dance moves.

After the audition, Simon added: ”I genuinely was not expecting to find someone like that. I thought Birmingham was going to be a disaster; it’s all changed now. I’m absolutely thrilled.”

In the semi-finals George’s decision to sing an original song was criticised by judges. Yet he still only narrowly lost out to young street dancer George Sampson, who went on to win the final.
