Droitwich has been labelled a ‘Toy Town’ more than once. And in 2000 it seemed like Noddy had actually come to stay… sort of.
Councillors had decided to name streets in a new housing development after notable authors. There was William Shakespeare Place, Charlotte Bronte Drive, Geoffrey Chaucer Walk and Charles Dickens Close.
But a stir was caused when Enid Blyton Corner was proposed. Enid, of course, is the author of the Noddy books, as well the Famous Five and Secret Seven and more.
Some folk were not too sure she should be in the same company as the other esteemed authors.
