In 1992, the Copcut Elm was renamed Trotter Hall and, to the horror of some locals, painted pig pink.

But if that was a shock to senses, it was nothing to what awaited customers inside – with the interior resembling a medieval banqueting hall.

It had been taken over by Colm ‘Mad’ O’Rourke’s Little Pub Company chain, which had a dozen or so wacky pubs across the West Midlands.

One of the pubs, Mad O’Rourke’s Pie Factory, in Tipton, was the home of the gastronomic assault course known as the Desperate Dan Pie.

The 4lb meal in a pie (with pastry horns) was also on the menu at Trotter Hall – for anyone up for a gut-busting challenge.

HELP: My memories of Trotter Hall’s interior are a little sketchy so I’d appreciate any feedback.
