British tennis ace Anne Jones became the first female ‘leftie’ to win Wimbledon in 1969, defeating the legendary Billie Jean King.

By that time, Birmingham-born Anne had already won the French Open twice.

She was often spotted in the corner shop on Oakland Avenue, Droitwich, whilst on visits to see her daughter Pippa.
