British tennis ace Ann Jones became the first female ‘leftie’ to win Wimbledon in 1969, defeating the legendary Billie Jean King.
By that time, Birmingham-born Ann had already won the French Open twice.
She was often spotted in the corner shop on Oakland Avenue, Droitwich, whilst on visits to see her daughter Pippa.
Ann also opened the clubhouse at Droitwich Spa Tennis Club in 2005.
