There’s only one street where you can fill up your tank in Droitwich – Worcester Road, which has three petrol stations. That’s because there are no large out-of-town supermarkets.
However, back in 1993 there were plans for not one, but two.
Developers wanted to build one store, twice the size of Morrison’s, off Kidderminster Road, and another, even bigger store on playing fields and woodland at Salwarpe Valley, off Ombersley Road.
Both sets of plans included petrol stations but both were refused by the council. The Kidderminster Road site, opposite DFS, later became housing.
